let the radio be your muse

Living in Los Angeles I have quite a commute, be it to or from work or going out at night, I spend a lot of time in the car. I love it though because it gives me the time to decompress while listening to music, be it new or old.

Fortunately, I have SiriusXM and I have to say, even though the pop stations can be a guilty pleasure, SiriusXM-U (ch. 26) and Alt Nation (ch. 21) are more and more becoming my go-to stations during my commute. Both in the morning and at night they tend to have incredible line-ups and always make my drive seem like a piece of cake. With that said, I rediscovered Muse this week. I know. They played the VMA’s this year, but I’ve honestly been listening to them for a few years.

Check out this song off their new album, a song that I think is a move in a great new direction for them: Undisclosed Desires

Paramore - MTV Unplugged

“Brick By Boring Brick” (também do novo disco, “Brand New Eyes”), “That’s What You Get”, “Misery Business” e “Decode”, que faz parte da trilha sonora do filme Crepúsculo, completam a lista do pocket show.

The Cruelty of Science--what price progress?

It’s all a bit “Sophie’s Choice” this morning in the Blarney abode. Gretel has to complete a science experiment, sorting out her independent variables from her control measures. The 11th-grader  is not the slightest bit interested and so, as Gretel’s  latest progress report indicates a worrying number of fail grades and missed assignments, the Crone has stepped in. Come hell or high water, Gretel will submit a paper and scientific research will be undertaken in Itchy Ankle. Thus, Gretel spent the morning in bed watching MTV while the Crone raced around researching the paremeters for the paper and working out what could be tested with a minimum of outlay and effort. Enabling? Yes, ‘fraid so.

The Crone invested in a couple of small Reggae Time cacti and began to work on phrasing her (note how completely this has already become her project) hypothesis.

“If cacti don’t have sunlight they will die” is the gist of it and this means that while both cacti will be watered once a month, and kept in rooms of the same temperature, one will live on a sunny ledge, and the other in a dark closet.

The Miley Cyrus and JayCee Dugard of the cactus world--one will live in sunshine, and the other incarcerated in darkness

Which leads to the Crone’s dilemma. How to choose which cactus will lead the life of Miley Cyrus–all sunshine and warmth–and which will be condemned to the grim existence of poor JayCee Dugard? It’s too much, really it is.

This cactus will probably end up at Harvard, will have a happy marriage, and huge earning potential

Goodbye cruel world. It's not much fun in the glory hole.

Kanye West Interrupts Taylor Swift and I Don't Give a Shit

If you some how hadn’t heard yet, the ever-pretentious Kanye West rudely interrupted Taylor Swift during what should have been her acceptance speech at MTV’s video music awards over the weekend.  I wasn’t sure how to feel about this because on the one hand, Taylor Swift is super sweet & sexy and I’ve always thought Kanye was a huge douche. On the other hand I basically hate both of them for being more famous and successful than I am. In the end I guess I just still think Kanye is a douche, but its also pretty funny that he made Taylor Swift cry on TV because she deserves it for making shitty country  music.

A lot of people apparently cared about this for some reason I don’t understand.  There was a lot of “Boo hoo Kanye is a jerk. Don’t worry Taylor we still love you!!11!” People, I am pretty sure that Taylor Swift will get over it-she has millions of dollars, she is STUPID hot, and nobody really gives a fuck about Kanye or his shitty music any more anyway – next year Kanye will not even be at the VMA’s because people will realize that I speak the truth and spread the gospel.

A small chance of rain

A small chance of rain, originally uploaded by magnum_lady.

It’s nice to be back home after the couple of days in Dublin. Although I seem to have gone from one hospital to another.
Andy hurt his back while I was away and has been in agony. I took him to the doctor yesterday who gave him an injection and two lots of tablets but he’s no better today and is having to crawl around the floor.

Lucy is still in a fair amount of pain and isn’t eating very much, poor thing.
Then to top it all mum ended up in hospital while I was away. So she’s not well either, she is at home now but has to go back to hospital on Thursday and then I have to take Lucy to Dublin on Friday to have her stitches taken out.

On Wednesday when we arrived in Dublin we found out that there was a bad crash between a Luas (tram) and a Dublin bus, it had blocked O’Connell Street. Over twenty people were injured, I believe a couple of people are still in hospital. I hope they get better soon.

We are just watching the MTV video music awards. Is it just me or does anyone else think that Lady Ga Ga is ga ga?

Album of the Day 9/19/2009: Graduation

Kanye en route to The Glory…

Can I talk my sh*t again? Even if I don’t hit again? Dog are you f*cking kidding?

I think hennassy, I drank I’m gone on that Bacardi Lemon, I’m zoning/ Class back in session so I up’t it a grade

Man the game all messed up

How I suppose to stand out when everyone get dressed up

But with my ego, I can stand there with a speedo

And still be looked at like a f*cking hero

When you meet me in person what does it feel like

I know, I know I look better in real life

Regardless of the real world’s intensely sophomoric reaction to the spectacle, Kanye knows “The hood love to listen to Jeezy and Weezy — and oh yeah, Yeezy!” Just under the fickle roar of the lynch mob, is the sound of the underground: “stretch my mind to figure out whats next in line/ the next Em, Ye, and Andre?” BoB, Asher Roth, and Charles Hamilton were a beacon of hope that in the even in the blurred world of pop reality a change is gonna come…

While as you listenin’ to this track

You probably about to blog about it maybe say it’s wack

Or maybe compare the verses to see which one of us would snap

Completly ignoring the fact that this is way more than rap

Cause I happen to be on a magazine you happen to see this issue

Some people wish you well, man some people turn against you

Some people even call up to the station just to diss you

You b*tch you, you only mad at your self here’s a tissue

But that ain’t even my focus man that hate ain’t on my menu

I’m in a different city about to rock a different venue

I think hennassy, I drank I’m gone on that Bacardi Lemon, I’m zoning

Class back in session so I up’t it a grade

The Madness of Kanye West

Crowds gather outside the Radio City Music Hall in New York.  A young man carries  a Roland TR-808 drum machine under his arm and proceeds to throw it atop of a fire billowing toxic smoke from a large pile of discarded shutter shades and vocoders.

A sign reads: ‘Kanye, How Could You?’ Just an evening previously, the greatest musician who ever lived shocked the world by humiliating a young girl, for no reason at all other than he thought the Beyoncé video where some girls dance for a while, was better. While this may seem on the surface, the inexplicable actions of a despicable tosser, it is far more complicated than that. You see, when Kanye learned how to be a master of everything, a certifiable genius and the greatest musician of ALL TIME, he forgot how to think rationally.

In the spirit of Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and Rosa Parks, Kanye protests vigorously against what he perceives as injustice. So when the ridiculously named teenage sensation Taylor Swift, a name that could just as easily be a men’s razor, won the award for ‘Best Female Video’, Kanye had to act!

Like a child chasing a balloon across a road with scant regard for the oncoming traffic, Kanye burst onto the stage to interrupt Taylor and make the ludicrous claim that Beyoncé’s video was on of the best of all time. Has this man no sense of perspective? No. No shame, no dignity, no brain either.

Amidst the fierce backlash towards Kanye essentially making a fool of himself, the world is a better place because of people like Jay-Z, who in times of crisis like this, can put things in perspective. Mr.Z, presumably angling for a job working for Scotland Yard, helpfully points out that Kanye ‘didn’t kill anyone’, this startling new development was followed by an assertion that Kanye is just ’super-passionate’. A passion for what? Stupidity?

Quoth Tupac: Life goes on. Surely the greatest man that ever lived can survive this episode? He’s taken to apologising maniacally, the way people do after they’ve fucked up beyond repair,  just an exercise in damage control. Oh well, we’ll always have the internet to remind us of the seven days that shook the Kanye West ego.

West, Williams & Impulse Control

Image via Wikipedia

Recent days have seen rather public examples of poor impulse control: Joe Wilson, Serena Williams, and Kanye West. While these folks would certainly benefit from some meditation (or medication), perhaps a way can be found to use folks with poor impulse control against each other. For example, imagine if Serena Williams was assigned to keep an eye on Kanye West? Here is how it might have gone down at the MTV awards.

Swift: “I’d like to thank…”

Kanye West rushes up on the stage and makes a grab for the microphone.  Suddenly, Serena Williams leaps from her front row seat, racquet in hand. Throwing all her awesome might behind a swing, she drives a tennis ball into West’s little “Kanyes.” West falls to the floor, emitting a terrible sound much like what a dying gnome might make.

West: “Squeeeeeee!!!!!”

In great pain, West tries to pull himself up, his hand still reaching for the microphone. Swift, debating whether to take an attack of opportunity or not, tightens her grip on the award.

West: “Bitch, do you know who I know I am?”

Williams: “Bitch? Shut the f@ck up! I’ll put one tennis ball down your throat and another one up your @ss. Now get back in your seat and let the little white girl get her award. I swear to God I will put you down!”

West: “But, I’m Kanye West!”

Williams: “I know who you are. But you’re no Rick James, bitch. So stay the f@ck off the stage.”

Swift: “Go away before I beat you with my little spaceman!”

West: “What?”

Swift: “If you try to take the microphone again I will beat your bitch @ss down with my little spaceman, so help me Jesus!”

Williams: “Way to go, girl!”

Qué fuerte me parece.

Kanye Fail / Gaga Faces / B Horse Power / NY Mayor

Dude, what a fuck?!?!

O próximo tema é a doceland Lady Gaga.

Ele e Alícia Keys fecharam brilhantemente o VMA, cantando a música Empire State of Mind, sobre Nova York, simplesmente a melhor apresentação da noite.

Só espero mesmo é o E.M.I.C.I.D.A dando show como o Jay-Z. haaa

¿ O tal vez un Have A Nice Day (H.A.N.D.) ?+

Desde luego esta juventus…

MTV.com names Ashley Greene as VMA 2009 Fashion Coorespondant

From MTV:

Ashley Greene’s 2009 VMA Fashion Predictions

Actress Ashley Greene

‘They will probably just wear some sort of tie or jeans and a nice shirt,’ she says of ‘Twilight’ co-stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner.

Ashley Greene has definitely made a splash on the slew of red carpets she’s walked, thanks to her girly, funky sense of fashion. But at this year’s Video Music Awards, she won’t just be heating up the carpet as one of the night’s big attendees, she’ll also be working the red carpet as MTV News’ very own preshow fashion correspondent.

Greene follows in the footsteps of VMA-nominated Taylor Swift, who had the task last year. But she isn’t sure she wants to get Swift on the phone anytime soon for advice. “I kind of want to do my own thing and I don’t want to have anything to go off of,” she told MTV News. “It’s cool we get to put our spin on it. I feel like [getting advice] would mess me up.”

And although Greene may not want to speak to her beforehand, she is excited at the chance to get to meet Swift when the show goes live from New York on Sunday. “I know Taylor Swift went last year, and I’m actually really excited to meet her,” she said about her predecessor. “I think that’s going to be very cool.”

She’s also eager to see what the other fashionistas of the night are going to be wearing for the show. Her predictions for best dressed include a Gossip Girl and two A-list nominees who happen to be battling it out for Moonmen. “I think Leighton Meester has really great style. I think Beyoncé always has really cool things,” she said. “[Lady Gaga] always has the craziest fashion ever, and I’m really excited to see if she’ll come over and chat with me about her inspiration, what she does. I feel like she makes her own world and her own fashion world.”

Greene has been too busy filming “Eclipse” to worry much about what she’ll be wearing at Sunday’s show. “I have absolutely no idea at this point. I think we’re going to squeeze in [a fitting] Saturday. I’m sure it’s going to be something along the lines of some sort of mini and possible silver or gold. I feel like that’s very VMA-ish,” she explained. “As far as boundaries and stuff, push them a bit, and I am the fashion correspondent, so I think I can be a little crazy.”

Greene has even less of an idea of what her fellow “Twilight” stars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson are going to don for the carpet. “Gosh, I have no idea. I feel like the guys have it a little bit easier. They will probably just wear some sort of tie or jeans and a nice shirt.

“We just did Teen Choice, and Kristen had this crazy dress with bullets all over it, which I kind of feel might have been appropriate for the VMAs. So I’m sure she’ll do something like that again, but I haven’t talked to her about what she wants to wear.”

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards air live this Sunday, September 13, at 9 p.m. ET.

Day 2 in the Big Blog House...

So… why does Jesse McCartney feature in day two? Is he part of the new kids connection or is he part of me just talking shit…

The first one. So, this summer I was lucky enough to hear this delightful track called Body Language, featuring such great lyrical gems like “Parle vous francais, Koni chi wa, come on move my way”… and my favourite “I don’t speak Spanish, Japanese or French but they way your body’s moving definitely makes sense”.  Lyrical genius.

Anyway, I digress… the reason Jesse McCartney gets to feature today is because not only did he tour with the New Kids this summer he appears to have included footage from the concerts in his new video. Hoards of fans screaming at the stage… nice try Jesse but you and I both know that those were new kids fans that you have clearly slotted into your video. Shame on you (but I am secretly pleased).

Anyone who can find me and my friend Amber in the video gets a prize… (Note. I don’t actually know if we’re in the video)

The real question is, why is T-Pain, an apparently well respected artist, featuring on a wannabe boybanders comeback single… It reminds me of when Jay-Z featured with Another Level… remember this? . WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Beyonce would never have made such a shameless cameo.

That’s all for now folks…so I’ll leave you with….

Today’s New Kids fact of the day (actually its another one for yesterday i couldn’t find one for today): Today in 1999 MTV tried to reunite NKOTB for a special performance at the VMAs… they declined.

"ANGELS" PUFF DADDY feat NOTORIOUS B.I.G

J’aime bien.

Song of the Day

Paramore – Use Somebody (Kings of Leon cover)

Everyone knows I’ve always been a fan of Hayley Williams. This is no different. I’d also like to say that while I’m glad Kings of Leon are finally being recognized more in the public eye, this is also nothing new. The band has been around for awhile, but many people didn’t hear about them until MTV had them perform at one of their award shows (which was random) and when they showed up on your radio (cough cough KISS 106.1) gtfo of here.

My old co-worker Jared Jeigh was the first one to introduce to me to them and their music when I was 16. Yeah, they didn’t just come out of nowhere.

no clima polêmico, no clima da terra, no clima do feriado

para ler ouvindo: Heart In a Cage – The Strokes

( no sentido gordinho e cute )

Exclusive: Watch 'Twilight In Forks' Doc's First Trailer Here

By Larry Carrol – MTV Movies / 01sep09

SOURCE

One of the things that you’ll see in the film is how vampires actually relate to Forks,’ says director Jason Brown.

Last week, the creators of the first-ever documentary about Stephenie Meyer’s hugely successful “Twilight” vampire phenomenon revealed the existence of their movie and unveiled its poster. Now, MTV is the only place where you can see the first footage released from the buzzed-about flick.

“One of the things that you’ll see in the film is how vampires actually relate to Forks, and whether there’s some truth to the characters that you’re familiar with,” explained director Jason Brown when he handed over the film’s hot-off-the-presses first trailer. “This teaser gives you a glimpse at that.”

Focusing on Forks, Washington — the real-life tiny logging town where Meyer imagined a world of vampires, werewolves and love-struck humans — “Twilight in Forks” visits Forks High School, explores the Quileute tribe, and investigates the phenomenon of Meyer’s saga by talking to people whose lives may have influenced the characters — or vice versa.

“You’ll see shots of the forest and some shots of signs about vampires,” explained Brown, who used high-def cameras to capture the area’s gorgeous rain-forest-like landscape. “You’ll meet a real-life Bella and a real-life Alice that are in Forks.”

If you’ve been to Forks, you know that once you step into the tiny, rain-soaked town, it feels as if any of Meyer’s characters could walk up to you at any moment. If you don’t feel like driving for endless hours, flying on a puddle jumper or simply can’t afford the trip, “Twilight in Forks” hopes to make you feel like you’ve been there. And if you have made the trek, the film aims to serve as the vacation video you wish you were talented enough to cut together with your iMovie.

“There’s a real-life Bella working at the Fork’s Outfitters in Forks,” marveled Brown.

“We also ran into someone who was actually getting vampire tooth implants at a dentist,” the film’s producer, York Baur, said of the way that the townspeople have embraced Meyer’s saga. “People [love 'Twilight' so much] that they are doing some stuff that’s out there.”

Out on DVD on October 15, a month before “New Moon” hits theaters, “Twilight in Forks” will chronicle all the town’s dedication, devotion and dark secrets. You can pre-order the film from Amazon, or check out the movie’s official site for more information.

Sellest on möödunud juba kaks või kolm aastat, millal ma viimati hobuse seljas istusin, kuid ma olen põnevil sadulasse naasmise üle.

MTV: Nii et me saame ka ülevaate Jasperi minevikust?

Jackson: Jah, me filmime tsiviil-sõja kaadreid ning ka mõned võitlusstseenid. See on tore, sest ma just lõpetasin “The Last Airbenderiga” ning olen võitlusega tegelenud juba viimased kuus kuud. Nii et olen valmis sellega ka jätkama.

Kogu intervjuud saate lugeda siit.
